Every vendor claims better data. Almost none can say what better means for your model, because the claim is about the data and the value is in the run.
The bridge between the two is a measurement you design before you buy.
Pick the metric that moves the decision
Not a generic score. The number your team uses to decide whether to ship: the pass rate on a held-out slice, the error rate on the segment that matters, the refusal rate on the boundary cases.
If better data cannot move that number, it cannot move the decision.
Measure the marginal row
Adding ten thousand rows to a set of one million rarely changes anything. Adding them to a gap does. Quality is mostly a question of placement.
Ask which slice is currently weakest, then test whether the new data moves that slice specifically.
Price the alternative
The comparison is not "better data versus worse data". It is "better data versus another month of the model you have". Sometimes the model is the cheaper path, and saying so is part of an honest quote.
Report the delta, not the feature list
A useful delivery says: on this slice, with this evaluation, the change was this. One number, one slice, one date.
Zovda builds to named slices through Datuva, where the evaluation set and the collection are documented together. The data research collection shows how that pairing is structured.
